The majority of people were unable to conduct business as usual due to the impact of the lockdown and this had an effect on most of the major logistics companies. With all facilities inoperable, it was necessary for companies to restructure their shipping and transport routes so they would be able to continue to operate. There were other key logistical companies that had to close and there were other hubs that would be impacted by the lockdown as well. Those that were impacted in Lagos City lost control of fleet distribution and transportation. They also lost communication with clients. There were many different industries affected by the lockdown including food processing plants, large pharmaceutical manufacturing companies, law firms, courier companies, retail stores, air traffic control systems, and even insurance brokers.
This outgoing situation is tough to predict. There are going to be interruptions in one form or another because some regions are on total shut down. There will also be a reduction in communications because the gateways are closed. The gridlock is likely to last from a few days to a week or more, but for now, it is only in the dark. One thing that many areas are reporting is that it will be difficult to get to work and also get work done. Since so many workers are on lockdown, their ability to return to work is limited. This will depend on where you live, but it is very likely that it will happen. There are too many disruptions in our day to day lives. It is important to use good logistics planning methods when this happens. If you have good preparedness plans, then your life will be much easier when an event like this happens.
